Identity is important to me first of all because I had no other choice. I grew up in a very conservative environment that I knew was incapable of seeing me for anything else than my lgbt identity. It was the part of me that I had to hide and suppress and learn to hate. So now that I'm in college, it's the part of me that I feel the need to show and learn to love. It's also where I most find community.

I'd like people to know that they can and should change the world. Esp privileged people, they should listen carefully to minorities, and help them tackle the issues minorities see in the world. It's completely unfair that the bulk of work towards killing oppressive systems should be done by those most disadvantaged by them. Don't wait for a savior to appear and change things, help with whatever local change you can. Cause that's where the differences really happen.
